College Tuition Assistance Programs: 6 Great Places to Look

Non-Scholarship, general Tuition Assistance does not require Middle or High School students to write an essay. It is based solely on the financial needs of the family.

Frances Kimball Westerbeke Memorial Scholarship Fund
Established in memory of Frances Kimball Westerbeke, who was a dedicated Conservatory Trustee and patron, this scholarship provides full-tuition assistance for an academic year of 45-minute voice lessons at SSC. To apply, applicants must enter the Soderberg Voice Competition (March), complete an Application for the Westerbeke Scholarship (available from the Voice Department Chair) and write an essay. In addition, the applicant’s teacher must provide a recommendation. The award is presented to a student who displays vocal talent, strong commitment to singing via extra-curricular activities (at SSC, school or other organizations) and financial need. The award will be based upon the student essay, teacher recommendation, financial need and judges’ scores. Because the award is for the academic year following the Voice Competition, high school seniors are not eligible.

Financial Aid consists of Tuition Assistance and specific Scholarships. When you complete the FACTS™ Grant & Aid Assessment, you will become automatically eligible for Tuition Assistance (no student essay required) and/or Scholarships (student essay required at the Middle and High School level). Awards are based on your calculated need and meeting the scholarship award criteria. There is no longer a need to apply separately for individual scholarships.
